Wahi - The Divine Contact

"When you return from Arafat, remember God as you approach the sacred monument. Remember Him that gave you guidance when you were in error."
(The Cow), verses 199-200)

In religious terms this contact is called Wahi. It means that god with his power and knowledge had a direct contact with his prophets. For example, the prophet Muhammad received all the instructions from Allah through Gabriel angel. But because no one can see such a cable that can possibly transport the message of god to a specific human being, it is unbelievable. Such contact is, though possible according to the new scientific discoveries about the human mind. Below is what I mean to say.

The invisible world around us

Around us in this world many things happen that we can not conceive or observe but we have to admit that such things exist around us. Human being today has invented such devices that can record the voice of a bee flying miles away so clearly like something taking place a meter away. And this is not only the modern devices but this incredible characteristic to communicate, without having a visible source, also is found in many animals and insects. A dog has a very powerful sense of identifying smells. A dog, which has smelled a piece of cloth, which has been touched by a person, can find the specific person among thousands of people. This ability in dog is now very commonly used in crime investigations. There are many animals that hear the sounds that we are unable to conceive.

It is observed that the animals have a special sensual ability, which is called Telepathy. If you leave a moth on an open windowpane it would gesticulate in a particular way, and the male moth from an incredibly long distance would hear these gestures, conceive them, and reply to them. A frog rubs its two legs, in a silent night. This sound is heard at a half-mile’s distance. This movement stirs 600 ton air and the female promptly answers the message and meets her male at the exact place.

Such sources of communication clarify that there are many communication resources, which are not visible, but work properly around us. Similarly if a person, who has never lied, claims that what ever he says is the message of god who communicated with him directly on invisible bases, can not be falsified.

These telepathic experiments are not limited to animals but human being is also awashing with such characteristics. In Dr. Alex Carel’s words ” One’s mental limitations in room and time are just suppositions”.(He doesn't ofcource mean that the human mind is infinite but what he means is that our minds might have a great deal of hidden capabilities which we usually don't happen to discover in daily life).    According to it, one can control others' mind, make them laugh or weep, and put new ideas in their mind. This way of communication is called ”Hypnotism”. This is a kind of communication which doesn’t need any kind of cable or device to transfer the message from the sending mind to the receiving one and neither can this communication be felt or seen.

An Exemple

In 1950 the intelligence agency of Germany arrested a person who was accused of interrupting human mind by hypnotism. While showing his mysterious powers in Regina hotel, Munich, this person handed some cards to a spectator and told him to choose any one of the cards and then repeat the name of that card in his heart. The Hypnotist claimed that he would transfer the thoughts of the spectator to the news announcer’s mind who was, at the moment, announcing news on the television and make him say out the name of the card which even he, the hypnotist himself, did not have any idea about. After a few seconds the surprised audience heard the announcers robot - like voice” hotel Regina, queen”.  The name of the card was exactly what the spectator had thought in his heart. The voice of the announcer still seemed nervous and robot - like but he continued to broadcast the news. After few seconds the broadcasting corporation began to receive a slew of telephone calls asking what the announcer meant by blurting out ”hotel Regina, queen” in the middle of the news.

The doctor, who examined the announcer, stated afterwards that when he checked the announcer, he was horribly anxious and he told the doctor that he had felt a sudden pain in his head for a fraction of a second and he did not remember anything afterwards. Such incidents are defined with different theories; for example, the brain releases a kind of waves that spread with an incredibly high velocity in atmosphere. This theory is called the ”Brain - wave theory” in the book ”Religion, Philosophy and Physical Research” by C.D. Broad.

Final words

I know that this is just a theory and that there are many scientists who don't agree to this theori but it doesn't mean that the notion of Wahi is something completely impossible, that is, it has a scientific base after all. Besides, I don't conclude that this exemple explains the possibality of Wahi but what I mean is that Mohammad's claim about having an invisible contact with God can not just be ignored. It has a scientific ground anyway.
