The response of International Community (IC), particularly the United States (US) and its Allies in the aftermath of 9/11, both militarily and financially, brought Afghanistan into the limelight of world again - after a lull and negligence of more than a decade by the US. The unexpected destruction caused by 9/11 made everyone astounded, and fuelled US government to make several

The virtual fledgling democratic system in Afghanistan brought along with some degrees of freedom in many fields, including the right to free speech with due consideration and respect to the Islamic, cultural and democratic values of the Afghan nation. hasty decisions, vis-à-vis Afghanistan to fight terror. The brunt of those decisions is now being born by the war-ravaged country. Capitalizing on this opportunity and compounded by the strong argument of the US to utilize anti Taliban elements as a ground force, gave chance to the losing Northern Alliance (NA) forces to dream of grabbing the whole country, contrary to what they were longing for a few square meters of land to live on in their own country - as the noose on their weakened and demoralized forces was getting tighter. However, Taliban defeat was immanent in the wake of unmatched superiority of US warplanes over the sky – not to mention the B52 carpet-bombing that made the lives of Taliban ‘hell’. The virtual fledgling democratic system in Afghanistan brought along with some degrees of freedom in many fields, including the right to free speech with due consideration and respect to the Islamic, cultural and democratic values of the Afghan nation. It is universally agreed notion that each action has reaction and then it depends on the person whether he/she reacts constructively or takes an extra mile in further aggravating the already spoiled situation? Here I refer to the two articles published in “Dunyay Zan and Sarnawisht Site” by Mr. Razaq Mamoon, who have revealed the purported desires of some ministers for staging a  ‘white coup’ and creating headache for Karzai.

In addition to their performances of those ministers that have been hailed by both Afghan and the IC, their academic and professional context may not let them indulge in bloodletting. Moreover, it is well beyond the capacity of the ministers to stage a white coup. In his first article, he made Ashraf Ghani as the coup leader, and in the following one, he made Ali Ahmad Jalali as the coup leader. Looking at the change of coup leadership within a matter of days, takes one to the conclusion that Mr. Mamoon himself is the part of this plot as he is getting first hand information so quickly. The inconsistencies found in his articles denote to his naivety. I would have agreed with him, if he could name those who really desire for staging a coup.
Given the established dimensions for staging a white coup such as, inter alia, in addition to the local backing, a strong outside support is also fundamental. The American radar that has now enveloped the country at this extremely critical time will not allow such an action. Apart from this, having made some mistakes in the past, and in view of being consider themselves as the champions of democracy in the world, changing a government through military means or by the name of coup is totally against their core principle. They don’t want to create a power vacuum in Afghanistan anymore. The US Defense Secretary further cements this argument in one of his latest press briefings, which states, "After the Soviets left, the United States made a mistake," he said. "We neglected Afghanistan and extremism took control of that country. The United States paid a price for that on September 11, 2001. We are here for the long haul."

Another point that I noticed in his articles is that he is apparently talking of purported fragmentations that exist between Karzai and these ministers. Recalling Mr. Mamoon’s past reaction in one of the TV interactions wherein he was trying hard to overpower a parliamentarian, Malali Joya to speak out openly. He would frequently jump and interrupt her, as she was trying to speak on the past atrocities committed by certain leaders and the large number of their groups. His deliberate meddling in her talking, gives one the clear signal that he is in one way or another affiliated to a certain group.

While taking into account the past atrocities committed under different names, there is no need and ground for white coup anymore, and the nation is also not ready to do so. Why should we confuse and litter the minds of our much-suffered people with such empty messages, at the time when there is a slight ray of hope for the peaceful environment. Yes, constructive criticism, if any, is most welcome. We do admit there do great anomalies exist in the current setup, i. e. widespread corruption,

and no proper vetting procedures - just to name a few, which need our attention. We must write on these rather than focusing on coup and massive regime change, which will result in further spoiling the already deteriorated security and political situations in the country.

A bad example, which shattered and reversed the once-blossoming market in Kabul and elsewhere in the country into pieces was the ill-planned protest staged on 29th May 2006 - soon after the unfortunate tragic event that took lives of our several innocent country fellows. We must not give chance to such mishap in the future. Some leading accounts suggest that the 29th May riot was a part of paving way for a large-scale disturbance in the country, and Mr. Mamoon intentionally ignores that in his articles. As intellectuals, it is our duty to be constructive and realistic when we write on the matters of national interest. Suppose there is a coup, Allah forbid, we will not be able at any cost to sit in Kabul, drive in luxurious cars and then draft such articles in an open horizon. The disparity in power sharing has already created huge rift within Afghans, the symptoms are very clear to everyone. If there is any uprising again, Allah forbid, this time there will be a real human misery – a misery for which there will be no matching model in the modern history.

To sum it up, it has been reported that Karzai being so open, on number of occasions, has already been bluntly “misled” on the issues of national interest. But as a wise politician and leader, he has turned down several hundreds of such political plots that have been aimed to undermine the unity of 5000 year-old and to fuel the flaming feeling of disunity created by certain ethnic groups – those who serve the fanatic leadership of this or that country of our region. I am pretty sure that he would continue to lead the country and face and avert all ill desires wisely and thoughtfully.

Once again it is worth mentioning that Mr. Mamoon may have problem in understanding between the difference of reshuffling, replacement and so-called white creeping coup. Such articles will only serve destructive objectives of certain fanatic circles and some foreign countries of the region. Furthermore, the ministers targeted in his articles come from the same ethnic background. So such an approach without any doubt may spoil Mr. Mammon’s journalistic ethics. Also, one can gather from his articles and interactions that he may be pushing hard for bringing in those who have been tested during the conflict times and who have already done their part in the Afghan mayhem. He must keep in To sum it up, it has been reported that Karzai being so open, on number of occasions, has already been bluntly “misled” on the issues of national interest. mind that such blatant support could be detrimental to those he is lobbying for.

In view of the above, I earnestly request Mr. Mamoon to
join hands with peace-loving individuals to work towards all-inclusive and pluralistic society wherein all Afghans live in peace and harmony – wherein Afghans have equal access to all basic services – a dream millions of Afghans are desiring for more than a quarter of century.

Why don't we compel our pens to draft constructive materials rather than serve the purpose of our own selfishness and those of the regional powers, who through their octopus-style blunt interference has led the country to the verge of collapse.
