Encoding Music Files To Windows media Format

There are different ways to start the encoding session but I will describe the way I usually do it. After downloading and installing open the encoder. The following window will show up:



Leave the box at the bottom of window unchecked so that it doesn't appear every time you open the encoder.

Click Cancel and a new window will pop up showing the Monitor, e.g. information about Input file, output file etc. Choose "New Session Wizard" from the Session menu. You should now see a window with three different options for encoding.

Choose the third option "convert an audio or video file to a windows Media file" and click next. Now Browse to the music file you want to convert to .wma format and double-click the music file after finding it.

Click next and the following window will appear:



Choose your bandwidth profile (28.8 kbps, 56 kbps, 64 kbps etc). Note that the higher the better in quality but the bigger in size.  (To have an mp3 or CD-like quality choose 64 kbps).

Click next and give your music file a title, copyright, etc. and click Finish. This information about the music clip will appear on the windows media player window while the clip is being played. The encoding session starts and you can see the blue increasing line showing the encoding process.

After the encoding has finished choose New Session Wizard from the Session menu and choose No if asked to save the session. Now you are ready to encode another music file, follow the same process and encode as many music files as you like.

That is all to encoding. It is important to choose the right bandwidth profile. The majority of Internet surfers still use 56K modem connections, so you'd better not choose a very high bandwidth!
