Encoding Music Files To real media format
After downloading and installing open the encoder. The
following window will show up:
Choose the first alternative “Record From File” and click Ok.
Now Browse the music file you want to convert to .rm
format and double-click it. Click next and the following window will appear:

Here you can give the media information which will appear on
the realplayer window while the clip is being played.
In the Keywords field
you can write down some keywords which will be used by search engines to
find out this clip on the net.
Click Next when you are done. This window
will show up:

Your are given two options. The first one is as described in
the window itself for the media clips which will be streaming from a real
server.
The other option is for those who will be streaming their media from
a Web Server through port 80. This is the choice for you if you have your
media on a Web hotel like angelfire.com, geocities.com etc or you run your
own Web Server like IIS, Apache etc.
Click Next and
choose your Target audience (28.8 kbps, 56 kbps). Note that
the higher the better in quality but
also the bigger in size.
It is important to
choose the right bandwidth since the majority of Internet surfers still use
56K modem connections,
so
you'd better not choose a very high bandwidth!
Click Next to bring up the window below:

On this window you will have to choose a format for your
media file. Different options are given along with their descriptions.
Choose the one which suits best your media file.
For an ordinary music file
choose the third alternative “Music”. Click Next and browse where you want
to save your encoded file.
The next window will show all the information and properties of the file you
will be creating, that is to say your output real media file.
Click Next.
If you are satisfied with your clip information and
properties click Start to launch the encoding. The blue increasing field at
the right bottom of the window shows you the encoding process. For a
5-minute audio file it will take less than a minute to encode.
After the encoding has finished choose New Session from the
File menu to bring up the initial window. Now you are ready to encode
another music file,
so go ahead
follow the
same process and encode as many music files as you like.
