Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas was the third time
this epic novel was put on screen. The movie had a super cast with the screen
queens Madhuri Dixit and Aishwaria Rai and King Khan.
Sanjay's Devdas turned out to be a huge success on the box office and won many
awards for the acting performances and the great music composed by Ismael
Darbar.
The movie was also the most expensive film project at the time of its release
with a budget of over 500 million!. The success of Devdas established Sanjay
Leela Bhansali as of the biggest names in Bollywood.
Request of the Month Saajan
(1991)
Saajan was released in the early 90's but
stayed as the biggest romantic movie of the decade.
Directed by somewhat unknown Lawrence D'Souza Saajan had the cast of popular
stars of the time - Sanjay Dutt, the newcomer Salman Khan and the rising
star Madhuri Dixit.
The story is about two close friends in love with the same girl. Sanjay's
character as the poet with crutches and long hair won the hearts of people.
Music was given by the then super duo Nadeem-Shrawan who prior to the movie
claimed that Saajan would break the record of their earlier movie Aashiqi.
It is not sure whether Saajan's music was better than Aashiqi's but Saajan
certainly was the biggest box office flick of the 90's.
Request of the Month Munna Bhai M.B.B.S
(2003) A great comedy by Rajkumar Hirani
who presented Sanjay Dutt in a completely new way and gave the "bhai" in
bollywood a whole new definition.
The movie is a comedy but contains some very sentimental and emotional
scenes perfectly played by Sanju and intellegently directed by Hirani.
The movie is the first part of what seems to be a series of 3 different
movies with the same Munna bhai character.
Request
of the Month Tere Naam
(2003) Salman Khan's amazing look and his
performance as a college gangster made Tere Naam a super hit movie. The
movie has already become a classic and is considered as one of Salman Khan's
aboslutely powerful and most memorable roles.
Directed by Satish Kaushik the movie has a soothing and thematic music
composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of an arrogant family father who believes in
traditional values and will not compromise. This brings him the seperation
of his adopted son Shahrukh Khan.
Hritik Roshan plays the younger brother in the family and the one who brings
the family its joys and reunites his elder brother with his father.
KKKG is an emotional family drama with good music and with Bollywood's big
names. Hritik Roshan's performance is impressive while king Khan suffers
from his usual mannerism.
Chandni is about a girl and her love for
only one man. Yash Chopra's classic movie was a major hit and contains one
of the best music peaces by Shiv Hari.
Rekha was the first choice for the role of Chandni but Sridevi was selected
after Rekha turned down the offer. Today the movie is remembered as one of
the most memorable romantic movies in Sridevi's career.

Raj Kapoor. The screenplay was written by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. This film was
the debut of Rishi Kapoor.
Mera Naam Joker is a film about a clown who must make his audience laugh at
